在意外中失去丈夫与居所的寡妇王二好与又聋又哑的小舅子漂泊在北方冻结的大地，四处寻求庇护却没有人愿意伸出援手。情况在一连串的显灵事件以后改变—乡里开始称呼她为“神仙”，小寡妇误打误撞成了能够施行奇迹的女巫，尝试帮助村民也为自己和小舅子糊口饭吃。然而再强的法力都敌不过人心的贪婪……

The Widowed Witch 以荒凉阴冷的中国极北地区为背景，“北方一片苍茫”在视觉上建构出一个有超现实力量及神秘生物出没的黑白冰封世界。故事背景取材自北方乡村依然通行的萨满信仰，对自然力量、鬼魂与神仙的敬畏以及能与之沟通的巫师角色。本片为导演的第一部剧情长片，神怪的背景架构之下，探讨弱势的女性在相对封闭的社会结构中，受尽不公对待的当代社会议题。
