Un réalisateur de comédies s’engage dans un projet inhabituel en décidant de filmer la façon dont sa grand-mère passerait le Nouvel An lunaire. Au moment de tourner, elle décède soudainement. Le film devant continuer, le metteur en scène poursuit le travail avec son équipe en s’adaptant.

En jouant avec la frontière entre la fiction et le documentaire, Da Peng suit la voie d’un cinéma art et essai sophistiqué et met sa propre famille dans la lumière.
